User testing is an awesome way to earn easy money by just giving your opinion on a website or an app.
I stumbled upon this idea because I was looking for another way to provide feedback to companies that was more fun and pays better when compared to online surveys.
Companies use user testing sites to obtain feedback from real people about their opinions on their website or mobile app. The company can use this information to improve the user experience by tailoring the user interface to suit people who visit the site or use the app.
If you own a website, like a blog you can also use user testing to gain some insight into how people view it. This could help you:
- Increase conversion rates for your products and services you promote or sell
- Benchmark how users interact with your website over time
- Increase advertising income
First, let’s talk about what user testing is.
What Is User Testing?
User testing is where users (you) are given a website or an app on your computer or mobile device to review. Your screen, microphone and sometimes your webcam is recorded during the process. Most tests take between 5 – 25 minutes to complete and pay an average of $10 per test.
You’ll have a set of tasks to complete and may have questions to answer about the test you performed. Payments are usually made through Paypal so if you don’t have an account, make one NOW!
This is truly a great way for you stay at home moms to earn some extra money!
Why I Started User Testing
I like user testing because It allows me to help companies make their websites and mobile apps more user-friendly so when people visit them they know where to find what they are looking for. Other reasons I like user testing:
- It pays better than survey websites. You can get between $5-$30 per test depending on what is required.
- It’s simple and easy to review websites and apps because you are giving your honest opinion about them.
Basically, I make the web a better place while earning compensation for my time. Yes, you can call me a hero, thanks…haha.
What You Need To Be A User Tester
In order to start user testing you’ll need a few things:
- A PC or Mac with an internet connection, and a microphone.
- An iPhone, iPad, Android phone or Android tablet if you’d like to take mobile tests.
- Recording software (usually provided by the user testing site)
I’ve compiled a list of the top user testing websites I recommend and like to use. Read on!
Best User Testing Sites To Make Extra Cash
Trymyui is one of the first user testing sites I used and made money from. In addition to website tests, I’ve also done testing on my mobile phone using their app on iPhone and Android. Standard pay is $10 per test. Payments out every Friday through PayPal only when tests are cleared for payment after being reviewed and accepted by their graders.

Validately is another great user testing site. Tests aren’t usually long at all so you can earn some quick money testing. There are different types of tests available. Their tests range from $5 for a normal 10-15 minute test to $40 for a 30-minute research session. They also pay through PayPal and have a mobile app that they may ask you to download.
UserTesting is a popular user testing site. I haven’t used them but you can get $10 via PayPal for every 20-minute video you complete. You will receive your payment exactly 7 days after completing a website or app test. There are other types of tests you can receive on UserTesting like mobile tests that pay $15.
I remember testing out an app on my mobile phone as a user tester on Userlytics. They will provide instructions on how to perform any test so you don’t have to worry about not knowing what to do. They generally pay $10 per test. Payment is made through Paypal.
WhatUsersDo is another one of the many user testing sites where you receive an invitation via email whenever a test is available. You will get paid via PayPal on the 25th of each month earning £/$/€ 5 per test. The better that you complete the tasks requested, the more tests that you will be offered.
Userbrain is a user testing site I used for a short time. You earn exactly $3 for every 5-15 min test video that is approved. This is the lowest out of all the websites but every little bit counts. You are paid through Paypal as well.
It’s best you sign up for all of them since there are many testers just like you using these platforms so it can be very competitive. If you always have access to a computer then this is a great way to earn income on the side.
Note: Earnings may depend on several factors such as demographics and the quality of feedback you provide.
Also, try to perform each test as best as you can providing constant feedback throughout the test while speaking loudly and clearly. The better you do in your tests, the more tests you’ll receive.
See this video below for a demonstration of using the UserTesting site.
